Macho Joe Scarborough: Some Men Go To Gun Ranges with AR-15s 'To Feel Like Real Men'

March 29th, 2023 1:17 PM

Mika Brzezinski Joe Scarborough MSNBC Morning Joe 3-29-23Muy Macho Joe Scarborough swaggered about his manhood again on today's Morning Joe. Scarborough mocked men who fire AR-15s at gun ranges "to feel like real men, cause they obviously don't in real life."

Scarborough made his comments in the context of discussing the Nashville school shooting, as he condemned Republicans and gun manufacturers for the current state of our society.

So, if guys insecure in their masculinity go to gun ranges to feel like real men, what kind of guy repeatedly goes on national TV to boast about his machismo?

You know, the kind of guy who brags:

  • "I'd die" before negotiating like 'snowflake' Kevin McCarthy.
  • That he'd tell a Capitol visitor taking pictures somewhere the guy doesn't like to "put the camera down or I'm gonna make you eat it . . . I would slap the camera out of his hand."
  • That he'd never let someone "emasculate" him the way Donald Trump allegedly emasculated J.D. Vance at a rally. No, said that macho guy, letting someone emasculate him is totally "foreign to me."

As it turns out, the guy with a masculine ego so fragile that he has a pattern of bragging on TV about how macho he is . . . is none other than—as you might have already guessed—Joe Scarborough.

And for someone who mentioned that he had a 100% NRA rating in the past, Scarborough displayed a shocking ignorance about AR-15s. He repeatedly described them as "weapons of war," saying that they were "meant to kill human beings in Vietnam and on battlefields."

In fact, AR-15s are semi-automatic rifles. The trigger must be pulled each time to fire a round. Actual "weapons of war," true "assault rifles," give the shooter a choice of modes: semi-automatic, or fully automatic, in which rounds will continue to fire so long as the trigger is depressed and rounds remain in the magazine.

Here's a little refresher course for Joe to brush up on his gun knowledge.

PS: For a rebuttal from the rifle range, some might suggest insecure men try to impress women by picking up a guitar and writing tribute songs to pussy-hat Women's March protests.

Macho Joe Scarborough saying that some men go to gun ranges to shoot AR-15s "to feel like real men, cause they obviously don't in real life," was sponsored in part by Golden Corral

JOE SCARBOROUGH: The thing is, Jonathan Lemire, it's a choice. That's the thing: people are saying, well, ah, there's so many guns, what can we do? But no, this has been a deliberate choice.

Forgive me for sounding, like, ideological here. But I say this as a former guy with 100% record with the NRA. This is a deliberate choice by the gun lobby to whip people into a frenzy of paranoia. So they think they have to go out and start getting AR-15s, weapons that were intended for war. So police officers have to run into the line of fire. Police officers have to deal with this every day. The possibility of, like, one-out-of-four Americans having weapons of war. Weapons of war!

And why do they have those weapons of war? Some of them just like to go to a gun range and feel like a real man, cause they obviously don't in, in, in their regular life. So they have to go to a gun range and shoot AR-15s.

Other people love guns! They just do! So they go there for that purpose. They like collecting guns. But the vast majority have been whipped into a frenzy, by paranoia that has been fed by the NRA to raise money, and for gun manufacturers to make tons of money!

. . .

Now, gun companies make the most money selling weapons meant to kill human beings in Vietnam and on battlefields. That's where we are as a society.
