Brussels wants puppet government in Hungary, says Hungarian government

A Budapest visit by the European Parliament Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE) “is part of a pact” between opposition Tisza Party and Brussels, an official of the ministry of EU affairs said on Wednesday, adding that Brussels wants to have a puppet government to lead Hungary.

State secretary Barna Pál Zsigmond told a press conference after talks with a LIBE delegation that instead of a fact-finding committee it was a “mercenary committee” in Budapest, as revealed from the composition of the delegation and remarks made by its members.

He added that the visit was “part of a pact” between the Tisza Party and “Brussels’ left-liberal elite”. Referring to Tisza Party leader Peter Magyar, he said the committee had been sent by “Brussels Peter” and Tisza Party MEP Kinga Kollar.

Zsigmond said that it was no accident that the right wing had boycotted this committee and during the talks they only repeated the same rule-of-law accusations as those heard in the past 15 years. “They constantly attack Hungary and they aren’t interested in our opinion,” he said.

He added that he had expressed the Hungarian government’s openness to dialogue “but what I could see was that they placed prewritten judgments in front of us, and when a question was asked, they refused to answer.”

He said the Hungarian government was open to dialogue but there are some red lines that cannot be crossed, such as Hungary’s sovereignty, protecting the country from illegal migrants, and protecting children.

He added that he had also told the committee that during their visits they seemed to meet only civil organisations supported by the Soros Foundation, clearly belonging to the left. “They are not interested in the opinions of right-wing civil organisations or background institutions,” he said.

  1. The messaging of the government is absolutely relentless, the same soundbites day in, day out with the clear intention of altering the electorate’s consciousness. It’s almost impressive to witness the level of coordination and absolute discipline visible in the cabinet and media outlets where everyone sings off the same hymn sheet with zero dissent and narratives are rolled out in a matter of hours. I’d go as far as saying it’s scary, the party is clearly ruled with an iron fist.

    • Our Politicians will do absolutely ANYTHING to win. Retain power at any cost. And they are prepared, organized and relentless (to your point).

So, expect lots more of the “flooding the zone” with “Soros!”, “Liberal Elites!”, “EU Bureaucrats!” and a lot of gaslighting. Tisza will face an uphill battle and will need all the help they can get.

  2. The Russian puppet government in Hungary tells you to fear a Brussels puppet government. If Hungarians vote based on that propaganda they get what they deserve.

    • Those that love their homeland will vote for Tisza in 2026, the rest need to check themselves into a sanitorium.
