MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee softball will host Jax State this upcoming weekend, April 17-19. First pitch is scheduled for Thursday at 6:00 p.m., Friday at 4:00 p.m., and Saturday at 12:00 p.m. All three games will be streamed on ESPN+, with live stats available via Stat Broadcast.
In their last Conference USA series, the Blue Raiders (21-22, 9-9 CUSA) took down the WKU Hilltoppers, winning two out of three games. Each game in the series was decided by a single run, with the Blue Raiders claiming victories in games one and three.
Jana Want capped off the series with a walk-off home run in game three, sealing a 4-3 win.
Addy Edgmon powered the offense with two home runs against her former team, while
Mary Martinez led the pitching staff by allowing no runs across two appearances and earning a 2-0 record. Martinez also crushed the first home run of her career—a go-ahead solo shot in the sixth inning of game one.
Prior to the WKU series, MTSU hosted Lipscomb in a midweek clash, securing a 6-3 victory.
Ansley Blevins,
Lilly Pendergrast, and
Lexi Medlock each homered to lead the offense, while
Jesyne Espinal earned the save with three scoreless innings, allowing just one hit.
The Blue Raiders lead Conference USA with 53 home runs this season and set the NCAA's longest home run streak of 2025 with 23 consecutive games going deep. The streak began on March 1 and continued through April 12.
With a 9-9 record in CUSA play, the Blue Raiders are currently tied for sixth place in the conference standings with NM State. Jax State sits in fifth with a 10-8 mark.
Scouting the opponent
Jax State – The 2025 Jax State Gamecocks enter the weekend with a 28-17 overall record and a 10-8 record in Conference USA. They ride a four-game winning streak after sweeping Kennesaw State last weekend. MTSU holds a 9-13 record against Jax State, with the last 10 matchups split evenly at five wins apiece. The Gamecocks are led by head coach Julie Boland, who is in her first season at the helm after serving as an assistant for 23 years. Offensively, they are paced by Emma Elrod, who is batting .371 with 10 home runs. On the mound, Jax State has been dominant in 2025, posting a team ERA of 2.80, with three pitchers carrying ERAs under 3.00.
