Timelapse satellite imagery captured a dust storm sweeping across southern New Mexico and western Texas on Thursday, April 17. The imagery was released on Friday by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and depicts a roughly two-hour period from 12.30pm to 2.22pm Mountain Time on Thursday. NOAA described the dust storm as “dangerous,” noting that the National Weather Service (NWS) had to issue numerous dust storm warnings for the area as “blowing dust led to hazardous travel conditions.” According to local news reports, the dust storm has resulted in at least one fatal crash in southern New Mexico.
