Utah transfer guard Mike Sharavjamts commits to South Carolina

Former Utah guard Mike Sharavjamts has committed to South Carolina via the NCAA Transfer Portal, per ESPN’s Jonathan Givony. He has one year of eligibility remaining.
Sharavjamts started in 29 of his 33 appearances for Utah this past season. He averaged 7.2 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.8 assists in 22.4 minutes per game. The 6-foot-9 guard shot 40.6% from the field and 30.8% from beyond the arc.
It was Sharavjamts’ first and only season with the Utes. He transferred to Utah after spending his sophomore season at San Francisco, where he started in all 34 games and averaged similar statistics.
Sharavjamts began his career at Dayton. At the time, he was only the second true freshman to start in a season-opener for Dayton in the past decade. He made 20 starts for the Flyers and averaged 5.6 points per game.
Mike Sharavjamts played high school basketball at ISA Academy (OH), where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 77 overall player and No. 21 small forward in the 2022 recruiting cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Although Sharavjamts played high school basketball in the United States, he is originally from Mongolia. He was the first Mongolian citizen to receive a Division I scholarship.

Sharavjamts visited South Carolina’s campus over the weekend. He chose the Gamecocks over SMU, Mississippi State and Butler.
Sharavjamts is the fifth player who has committed to South Carolina via the transfer portal this offseason. He is joined by standouts such as Meechie Johnson and Kobe Knox. Alas, the Gamecocks have also lost eight players to the portal this offseason.
The 2024-25 campaign was a significant step backward for the Gamecocks. Just one season after tying for second place in the SEC, South Carolina finished dead last, posting a 2-16 record in conference play. Now, with players like Mike Sharavjamts by his side, Gamecocks head coach Lamont Paris will look to correct course in the upcoming season.
