BYU, Utah Baseball Battling For Final Big 12 Tournament Spot

SALT LAKE CITY – The season comes down to its final weekend as the BYU Cougars and Utah Utes contend for the final spot in the 2025 Big 12 Baseball Championship. UCF joins them in a three-team race to see who will head to Arlington, Texas, next week.
BYU and UCF entered the weekend with identical 8-19 conference records. Utah began play on Thursday at 7-20. All three programs have the home-field advantage as they look to end the regular season on a high note.

The Cougars beat up on Texas Tech Thursday night, handing the Red Raiders a 13-4 loss. Utah squandered a 5-4 lead in the top of the ninth, ultimately falling 13-5 to TCU. UCF dropped a 5-4 heartbreaker against Baylor.

BYU needs one more win this weekend to clinch the final spot. Utah must win the final two games against TCU and get help with two losses from BYU and UCF.

The top 12 teams in the regular season standings will advance to the 2025 Phillips 66
Big 12 Baseball Championship at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, Wednesday, May
21 to Saturday, May 24.
The West Virginia Mountaineers enter Globe Life Field as the top seed after earning the Big 12 regular season championship.
