Oregon State baseball vs. Louisville highlights: Beavers win CWS opener on a walk-off

OMAHA — After a chaotic sequence of late-game events, Oregon State kicked off the 2025 College World Series in walk-off fashion.
The No. 8 Beavers captured a crucial 4-3 win over Louisville at Charles Schwab Stadium. Gavin Turley smashed a walk-off RBI double in the bottom of the ninth inning to seal the victory and send OSU into the winners' bracket, where it will face Coastal Carolina at 4 p.m. PT June 15.
Turley's big moment became necessary after the Beavers' 3-1 lead evaporated in the top of the ninth. Tague Davis and Kamau Neighbors came through with run-scoring hits during an inning in which OSU made three costly miscues.

Right-hander Kellan Oakes came on in the ninth for Oregon State to try to get the final three outs.
Zion Rose tagged Oakes for a leadoff triple. OSU left fielder Gavin Turley dove head first trying to make the catch, but he missed and the ball caromed all the way to the wall. Tague Davis followed with an RBI single to cut the lead to 3-2. Tanner Shiver came on to pinch run for Davis and was thrown out trying to steal second.
Then, in a bizarre sequence of events, Alex Alicea hit a grounder to OSU shortstop Aiva Arquette and Arquette air-mailed the throw to first. Beavers catcher Wilson Weber had hustled down the line to back up the throw. He tried to fire the ball to second base, but it slipped out of his hand during the throw. Weber couldn't find the ball, and Alicea advanced to third as Weber looked for it.
Kamau Neighbors followed with a first-pitch RBI single to center to tie the game at 3-3.
Oakes got out of the inning with a strikeout and a fly-out.

Whitney nearly picked off Neighbors, but first baseman Jacob Krieg dropped the ball on the tag and was issued an error. On the next pitch, Moore drilled a single. Matt Klein followed with a groundout to first that moved both runners up.
Whitney's early-inning struggles were enough to prompt a pitching change from OSU. Eric Segura took over for Whitney on the hill.
Jake Munroe laced a hard-hit grounder right at Aiva Arquette, but it ate Arquette up and he couldn't field it. A run scored and the play was ruled a single.
